To his credit he actually played a decent game 1. That being said anything other than standing on the blue line, looking in the opposite direction of the action and making no attempt on playing a puck nearing him is an improvement.

My one hope is that the series wouldnt get too dirty, and hopefully we aren't there yet. I wouldn't be shocked to see Tootoo in the lineup on 3-4 lines only to take up the slack that Shea can't.

Otherwise I'm alittle dissapointed that the headlines all read "Preds hold on/ Eek by" and so on. Apparently those writers were watching a different first two periods. This game easily could have been 3/4-1 in the first alone. We'll see if Detroit shores up its defense this evening.

As Predaceous said, this was Shanahan's own logic that brought us the 1 for 12 idea. I even thought he would sit for a game.

But I do like the 10 minute carryover that was suggested. Seems like a good idea if it can be worked out logistically. Playoffs only to try to minimize that problem.

But again, time to move forward. Go Preds, get the win! Ugly goals are still goals and a win is a win, but I would like to see the passing accuracy and backdoor goals that we've seen this season (and of course, the win!).

Nobody around here is sticking up for what happened at the end of the game the other night. Likewise, nobody seems to be mentioning the crap Z and should-be-a-convicted-felon Bertuzzi were pulling. Move on.

It could have been 3/4-1 but man did the Red Wings bring the last two periods. 16 shots for each period. To me, that means the Preds did in fact hang on.

I understand the viewpoint on Shannahan's 1 game = 12 reg season games. But I don't agree with him on it because by his numbers he just suspended Byron Bitz for 24 regular season games. As a comepletly unbiased fan toward these two teams, I think there should have been a suspension for one game because it sets a bad precedent of a play like that should only end up being a fine in the future, and it was a reckless play involving someone's head.

Looking foreword to watching both of these two great teams play tonight, thanks to NBC carrying every game.

I'll be real interested to see who makes up the 4th line. You know Gaustad will center it and I would think that Halischuk has earned one spot. I would love to see Smith or Wilson get a chance to break through. I like to way Yip has played, but Willie and Smitty have more upside and could really be potent

I don't see a scenario were 22 gets in tonite. It would be a repeat of Lucic all over again. Toots will be punished for someone elses mistake. That's why I keep him on the bench.

Paul, the thing that gets me about the lack of suspension is that the league is constantly saying it wants to 'protect players' and 'eliminate head shots.' This appears to be a contradiction to that. As I've said ad nauseum here, it's a bad precedent to set. What I can't get my head around is that guys get suspended for hits that are happening so fast, sometimes they don't have time to react. It's accidental, but players are held accountable. BUT when a guy INTENTIONALLY does something like this, he gets the the equivalent of a stern look from Shanahan. Discipline based on results (injuries), rather than intent, is a very REACTIVE way to police the game, rather than PROACTIVE.

And about Bertuzzi. (Don't worry all, I'm not going THERE) If I'm not mistaken, Bert was standing up for Datsyuk who had just taken a pretty wicked slash from Gaustad. Nobody is calling Bertuzzi an angel.

- After a rather tight first 33 minutes, the New York Rangers exploded for three goals in about five minutes to take game one of their series with Ottawa. Think coaching doesn’t make a difference? John Tortorella’s basketball-style timeout midway through the second period really stopped the Senator’s momentum and was the turning point in the game.
